Happy New Year to all Bluestem Ridge residents!
2015 was a busy year for our edition with a landscape overhaul and a change in our Homeowner Association’s (HOA) board of directors. We thank Crystal Mappes, our exiting HOA President, for her years of volunteering and good leadership, as well as Charlie Bevers for his time spent as Information Chair. Former Treasurer Leslie Bonebreak was elected as the new President. She has lived in Bluestem Ridge for the past 9 years. Leslie is married to Kevin, has 3 sons, and is an avid recycler. Kasey Malone was elected as Treasurer; Anna Jacobson was elected as Secretary and Kristi Pitt is our new Information Chair. Veteran board member Ron Austin is the Architectural Chair. We still have four positions open if you are interested in participating and helping make our neighborhood great!
The objective for our new board is maintain and even enhance property values of our neighborhood in the quickly expanding city of Moore. We will be collecting the 2016 annual HOA dues in January. These make it possible to upkeep the commonly-owned property by hiring a landscaping company as well as paying utilities. Thank you in advance for paying in a timely manner.
Looking back on 2015, we had a speeding issue on 31st St and Carey Pl. The City of Moore conducted some inconclusive speeding surveys and we found out that the best option to address speeding is to call the Moore Police Department at 793-5171. As a Moore resident, you can ask for a patrol to come at a time when you are seeing the most speeding problems, which may help catch the offenders and save lives.
The Christmas lights put up by our neighbors were wonderful this year! However, the Christmas lights on our neighborhood’s South entrance were underwhelming, to say the least. We had several issues with M&M Landscaping, our current landscaping company, who we had also hired to put up our lights. Due to the problems with M&M, we don’t expect them to return to take down the lights. If you would like to volunteer to help with that task this month, please contact any of the board members. In addition, because of the problems with M&M, we have asked five different companies to submit lawn and landscaping bids for 2016.
Our HOA sponsors two great parties during the year, which provide an opportunity for neighbors to meet. We organize a start of summer soirée with blowup obstacle courses and snow cones, and a Halloween party with
hot dogs and games. As both parties are mostly geared toward children, we decided to also organize something more inclusive of the neighborhood adults. Our idea is to have an outdoor movie night in late April with a blow
up screen and projector, and inviting some food trucks. If you have any other suggestions, please feel free to send your ideas when you send your dues or email them to leslie@bluestemridgehoa.org. Maybe you would like to see a Christmas light contest next year?
Give a nod to our Yard of the Season at 1836 SW 31st for excellent use of natural features and year-round interest.
It is important to remember we live is a very small community, so please read the HOA covenants. It’s a short read available on our website at www.BluestemridgeHOA.org. Our board meeting minutes are always posted on our website to keep everyone informed. As members of the board, we value transparency and open dialog and are always willing to listen and address any concerns you may have.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and have a great 2016.
Sincerely,
Bluestem Ridge Board of Directors
